Love her? So, be a man

"Be a man. Don't approach her, approach her wali."

I read this on my friend's wall in Facebook. The term Wali here means men in a woman's family that are responsible to take care of her and conduct her marriage. The wali can be grandfather, father, brother and etc. In Islam, if a man seriously want to marry a woman, he must meet the wali and get the wali's permission. If the wali want a woman under his responsibility to get married, he also must ask the woman. A woman can't be force to be married especially if the future husband are not up to her standard such as she is pious but the future husband is a drug addict or she got degree but he just pass SPM. Unless the woman willing to marry him, that's another story.

By following this way, it can reduce the possibility that the man just want to play around with a woman. If the wali already know him, do you think that the wali especially her father or brother will just let go the unresponsible man after he done something bad to the woman? Some of you might think that this is a conservative way but for me, this is the best way to protect a woman from being used as the goods are worthless. Besides, only a serious man that seriously want to marry a woman will be brave enough to meet her wali. So, woman... either muslim or non muslim, you can easily reject those cowards who are not sincerely loving you.
